“To build a model green and safe village that ensures the comprehensive development of marginalized communities through sustainable growth in the agricultural and tourism sectors, decentralized planning, and the protection of natural beauty and the environment.”
Mission
To transform the above vision into reality, the Panchayat shall undertake the following key missions:
🌾 Agricultural Development and Livelihoods
Promote traditional agriculture and plantation crops such as tea, coffee, and pepper, while providing farmers with better marketing and market-access facilities.
Expand self-employment and entrepreneurship programmes to ensure the economic security and livelihood opportunities of plantation workers and the general population.
🏞️ Environmental Protection and Disaster Mitigation
Protect Meppadi’s unique landscape and ecological characteristics as part of the Western Ghats.
Ensure safe human settlements through scientific soil and water conservation measures and effective natural disaster prevention and mitigation activities.
Promote and implement sustainable and responsible tourism practices.
🏥 Infrastructure Development and Healthcare
Ensure good-quality roads, access to safe drinking water, and scientific waste management facilities in all wards, while strengthening the activities of the Haritha Karma Sena.
Provide quality healthcare services and educational facilities accessible to all sections of society.
🤝 Social Justice and Public Welfare
Formulate special programmes to improve the living standards of marginalized communities, plantation workers, and tribal communities.
Give priority to women’s empowerment and the welfare of children and senior citizens.
💻 Transparent Governance
Involve people actively in the development process through participatory planning and the active involvement of Gram Sabhas.
Fully digitalize Panchayat services and provide transparent, corruption-free, efficient, and speedy governance to the people.
